RMT Inc joins Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives LLC

By Paul Dvorak | March 4, 2013

Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, LLC (IEA) has announced that it has closed on the acquisition of renewable energy construction and engineering firm RMT Inc., previously owned by Alliant Energy Corporation.

IEA home pageIEA is a provider of engineering, procurement, and construction services to a variety of markets including renewable energy and fossil fuel generation across North America. RMT will become a subsidiary of IEA working in their renewable energy group along with existing IEA subsidiary White Construction Inc.

“The addition of RMT strategically strengthens our customer base and the services we provide as a leader in the engineering and construction of renewable energy projects” said IEA CEO Paul Daily. “RMT brings a new dimension to IEA in the form of its energy project development group. Additionally, RMT has a substantial portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy construction projects that they have completed across the U.S. Together, RMT and White Construction have more than 9,500 MW of experience in the renewable energy industry providing IEA with a remarkable base from which to serve our clients. ”
RMT will remain headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin under the leadership of newly appointed President, John Kennedy. He brings over 25 years of engineering and construction leadership expertise to RMT. Throughout his career he has worked in the energy and infrastructure markets holding high level positions at Exelon, InfraSource, Stone and Webster, and Roberts and Schaefer. “We are pleased to have someone with John’s broad industry experience to lead RMT and we believe that his expertise will help accelerate the company’s growth and maximize opportunities and synergies within the IEA organization,” says Paul Daily.
Kennedy added, “I am excited to join RMT and the IEA organization which has strategically positioned itself for impressive growth in multiple markets. I am confident RMT will transition well into the IEA organization and as a team we can significantly grow our service offerings.”
