The Saelig Company (www.saelig.com) has announced the availability of the PIE 541 Frequency Calibrator with Totalizer, a portable, precision calibrating tool for the testing and diagnosing of frequency devices at any location. Offering an accuracy of ± 0.005% of range, the calibrator can be used for devices with frequencies from 1 cycle/hour to 20 kHz. It can read a wide range of signal frequencies and waveforms from 50 mV to 120V peak from sources such as flow-meters, and velocity and motion detectors. As a waveform source, the output can be specified as a sine or square-wave with amplitudes from 100 mV to 12V pk-pk, simulating signals from vibration pickups, variable speed drives, etc. It also functions as a totalizer for inputs or outputs from 1 to 99,999 in 1.0 to 100.0 minutes. The PIECAL 541 has a gate-time LED which flashes with received pulses, indicating when the proper input adjustment level has been met. When calibrating a totalizer, the PIE 541 eliminates the need for a stop watch since it automatically stops when the preselected number of pulses has been sent to the totalizer.
The PIE 541 Frequency Calibrator with Totalizer calibrates, tests, and diagnoses turbine meters, frequency counters, vibration systems, tachometers, flow meters, vortex shedders, integrators, and other frequency devices. Or it can be used to calibrate positive displacement flow-meters, watt-hour meters, or slow-rated integrators with frequencies as low as one count per hour and magnetic pickups with square wave outputs.
A NIST-traceable certificate is provided with the unit, with test data available at extra charge.
Lightweight (12 oz), rugged, and reliable, the compact (7.0 x 3.3 x 2.2 in.) PIE 541 Frequency Calibrator is fitted with a convenient hand-strap for ease of use. It is supplied with a 3-year warranty. $1,275
