By Paul Dvorak | January 16, 2015

Safety equipment company Elk River has introduced its Peregrine RAS Platinum series harness.

Safety equipment company Elk River has introduced its Peregrine RAS Platinum series harness (lower right).

Falls are the leading cause of injury and death in work related accidents, says OSHA. People working at height must be protected against falls. Ideally, all fall hazards should be engineered out of the workplace, but that is not always possible. When a fall hazard exists, fall protection equipment is necessary to protect the worker at height by incorporating a personal fall arrest system. Each such device must contain at least four components:

  1. Full Body Harness
  2. Energy Absorbing Device
  3. Anchorage Connector
  4. Anchor

To this end, safety equipment company Elk River has introduced its Peregrine RAS Platinum series harness. A few features include:

  • Six D-rings: One aluminum 70° D-ring at back, two on the hips, two aluminum D-rings on seat strap, and one steel D-ring on chest strap
  • Quick-connect buckles are on the chest and removable seat. Tongue buckles are on the legs.
  • Breathable padding is on back and shoulder, waist, bar seat, and leg straps, and
  • Pull down adjusters are on shoulder straps.

The Peregrine RAS also sports lanyard parks, fall indicators, a five-inch padded back pad with accessory rings, and a removable tool belt. The harness is made of polyester and nylon.
