Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, announced the signature of a turbine supply contract for an 18.45-MW project with wpd in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The company will deliver nine Senvion MM92 type wind turbines especially designed for cold climates to White Pines windfarm in Prince Edward County. Each of them has a rated power output of 2.05 MW. The project will provide clean, renewable electricity to about 3,000 homes. Senvion and wpd also concluded a service and maintenance agreement (ISP) for 15 years.
“We are pleased to sign this contract for the White Pines project,” says Lance Marram, CEO at Senvion North America. “Another project with wpd in Ontario that will see a quick turnaround.”
“We are pleased that the fifth wpd wind farm in Ontario is now under construction,” added Dr. Hartmut Brösamle, CEO wpd, “and thus wpd is expanding its position in Canada.”
The wind farm will make an important contribution to local value creation by creating jobs and revenues to the county. Turbine delivery is planned for summer 2018.
