Several 4-roll roll plate rolls manufacture wind towers

By Kathie Zipp | July 19, 2011

A manufacturer of plate rolls has installed two lines (up to 10 ft by 6 in). Davi has sold several of the 4-roll plate rolls, each with a capacity of 13 ft by 5 ¾ in, to Germany and the UK, to manufacture offshore wind towers.

The use of such large equipment (the top roll diameter is more than 3 ft), comes from the necessity of manufacturing also the foundations, realized with high tensile steel, over 4 in thick. The company says that these plate rolls follow other 4-rolls with similar capacities, recently sold, that stress the tendency of the industry toward plate rolls more powerful and efficient.

“Our company has answered to these manufacturing necessities producing more powerful machines, suitable to satisfy demanding needs,” says Davi President Orazio Davi. “Several customers of ours work at stressful shifts of 24/7 without any abnormal wear.”
