SgurrEnergy, part of Wood Group’s clean energy business, officially opened its newly upgraded state-of-the-art control centre at its Glasgow headquarters. The SgurrControlCentre is a technical support hub which provides the company’s global client base with an all-encompassing asset management service.
SgurrEnergy is a renewable energy consultancy, providing engineering and technical advisory services in onshore and offshore wind, solar, and hydro projects. Founded 14 years ago, the company has been involved in more than 160 GW of renewable energy projects in over 90 countries around the world.
“I am delighted to officially open SgurrEnergy’s newly upgraded SgurrControlCentre which will allow a greater ability to monitor wind and solar sites both in the UK and in overseas markets,” said Paul Wheelhouse, Scotland’s Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy, during a visit.
He added: “The Scottish Government wants to optimize the benefits of our significant energy resources and expertise, and we encourage and promote wind and solar as representing a safe, secure and cost-effective means of generating electricity.”
“We are delighted to welcome Paul Wheelhouse to our Glasgow headquarters for the official opening of the SgurrControlCentre,” said Robbie Gibson, SgurrEnergy’s Director of Asset Management. “SgurrEnergy is constantly striving to improve its client offering, and as a result has committed considerable investment in this state-of-the-art facility, which offers vital services to the renewable energy sector, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”
The SgurrControlCentre is manned by a team of operational controllers who provide round-the-clock control, monitoring and management of a number of onshore and offshore wind, and solar projects, and associated site contractors.
