SgurrEnergy unveils its state-of-the-art control center

By Paul Dvorak | December 22, 2016

The SgurrControlCentre is a technical support hub which provides the company’s global client base with an all-encompassing asset management service. The occasion was marked with the unveiling of a plaque by Scotland’s Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy, Paul Wheelhouse. While visiting the renewable energy consultancy company’s Bath Street offices, Wheelhouse took the opportunity to speak to staff and see for himself the newly refurbished and upgraded SgurrControlCentre.

Wheelhouse said: “I am delighted to officially open SgurrEnergy’s newly upgraded SgurrControlCentre which will allow a greater ability to monitor wind and solar sites both in the UK and in overseas markets.”

“The Scottish Government wants to optimize the benefits of our significant energy resources and expertise, and we encourage and promote wind and solar as representing a safe, secure and cost-effective means of generating electricity.”

The SgurrControlCentre is manned by a team of operational controllers who provide round-the-clock control, monitoring and management of a number of onshore and offshore wind, and solar projects, and associated site contractors.

Robbie Gibson, SgurrEnergy’s Director of Asset Management, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul Wheelhouse to our Glasgow headquarters for the official opening of the SgurrControlCentre.
“SgurrEnergy is constantly striving to improve its client offering, and as a result has committed considerable investment in this state-of-the-art facility, which offers vital services to the renewable energy sector, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”

Bob MacDonald, Wood Group’s CEO – Specialist Technical Solutions, said: “We are firmly focused on driving further growth in our clean energy business through expanding the innovative technical services we provide to meet the challenges of our clients across the renewable sector. The official opening of the SgurrControlCentre reflects this commitment, embracing new technology that enables us to further enhance how we efficiently and effectively deliver competitive solutions.”
