Shermco Industries expands service coverage with EMS acquisition

By Michelle DiFrangia | November 7, 2014

Shermco FlagsRon Widup, president and CEO of Shermco Industries, recently announced that the company has acquired Electrical Mechanical Services (EMS) of St. Paul, Minn., as a next step in expanding its service coverage in the Midwest.

EMS services include electric motor and generator repair and remanufacturing, motor and generator field services, machining services, vibration analysis, machinery alignment and field balancing services, transformer field services, and ac/dc drive service. EMS also provides UL 508 listed panel shop services and new product distribution for electric motors, drives, and motor controls. Shermco will be expanding EMS capabilities over the coming year to incorporate wind energy services, electrical power systems testing, commissioning, and maintenance services, as well as circuit breaker and switchgear testing and remanufacturing.

Art Anderson is the president and founding vice president of EMS, as well as a past international chairman of EASA from 2009-2010. He and the existing management team will continue to serve in the same capacity and will help foster Shermco growth in the region.

“EMS has great employees who are dedicated to the company and the industry; it already provides many of the services that we offer and will springboard our capabilities into this region of the country,” says Widup.
