Sika Corp. intros Sikafast-3300 & 3500 series structural methyl methacrylate adhesives

SikaCorporation, a supplier of innovative adhesive and sealant solutions, is proud to announce the launch of SikaFast-3300 and SikaFast-3500 Structural methyl methacrylate (MMA) adhesives for transportation and industrial assembly applications.Sika home page April 2017

These new SikaFast lines are medium to high modulus structural adhesives, based on toughened-MMA technology.  Products are characterized by high shear, peel, and impact strength, with some formulations affording >3,000 psi (21 MPa) in lap shear at 72°F  (Steel lap joints, tested per Internal Sika Method).  In addition, these products retain a great deal of their properties over a wide temperature range.

The SikaFast-3300 and SikaFast-3500 products have excellent adhesion to numerous substrates, often with little or no surface pretreatment. Both lines offer fast setting /curing and long open time systems to fit most assembly processes.

“SikaFast products are designed to substitute or complement welds, rivets, and other mechanical fasteners and allow for a cleaner and aesthetic appearance,” said Mark Daniels, Vice President, Industry Transportation and Appliance and Components.  “Sika customers are able to reduce labor and material costs by reducing or eliminating surface prep in their manufacturing process.”

The full line of SikaFast products include:

SikaFast 3100 Series – Low-Medium modulus MMAs designed to efficiently transfer loads and evenly distribute stresses while maintaining flexibility at low temperatures. Available in 10:1, 50 ml and 490 ml packaging.

SikaFast 3300 Series– Medium modulus MMAs offering fast setting and curing and long skin time systems for better static and dynamic stiffening, with up to 2,200-psi lap shear strength. Available in 10:1 490 ml packaging.

SikaFast 3500 Series– Medium modulus MMAs offering fast setting and curing and long skin time systems for better static and dynamic stiffening, with up to 3,300 psi lap shear strength. Available in 1:1 400 ml packaging.
