Suzlon has successfully introduced an active power rating increase product for its’ existing fleet of S88 2.1MW Wind Turbines. Suzlon has been able to analyze equipment performance and introduce specialized controller software that will allow an increase in rated power from 2.1 MW to 2.25 MW. The controller package offers enhanced functionality to achieve the rated power increase while maintaining protection for all equipment and components.

Application of the S88 Boost, technology requires evaluation of the local site conditions to ensure maximum lifetime of the Wind Turbines is maintained. Suzlon has been testing the S88 Boost since February 2013 in the United States and has qualified the functionality through continuous in field operation over the last 16 months.

Duncan Koerbel, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation and CTO of Suzlon Energy Ltd., commented “The S88 Boost is a great example of how we can partner with our customers around the world and increase the economic value of their projects by utilizing our technical expertise”.
