Arizona-based TPI Composites, a manufacturer of composite wind-turbine blades, has announced an extension of its blade supply agreement with GE. The agreement is for an additional two years for one of GE’s production sites in Mexico.
The new agreement will expand GE’s access to production lines at one of TPI’s plants in Mexico from three to five, and will run through 2022.
Additionally, GE has agreed to use a larger blade model that TPI will manufacture at its Iowa facility in early 2019, and to eliminate its option of ending a supply deal in Iowa before its expiry in December 2020. TPI has agreed to remove three production lines for another manufacturer “subject to geographic exclusivity versus a minimum volume obligation.”
