Trojan Battery Co., manufacturer of deep-cycle batteries, says it continues its mission to expand knowledge and understanding of deep-cycle batteries by hosting a series of webinars to provide in-depth information on battery topics for renewable energy and backup-power applications.

The company says deep-cycle batteries are an essential component of battery-based renewable energy and backup power systems, so careful attention should be paid to the system design, battery selection and battery maintenance.  Trojan’s series of webinars will address topics critical to maintaining a successful battery-based renewable energy and backup power system and provide useful tips and information.

These Trojan Battery webinars are free to attend and open to the public.  Participants can register at http://www.trojanbatteryre.com/Contact_Us/Webinar_2013.html.

The following webinars are scheduled from April to September 2013.

April 10 at 11 a.m. PDT

How to Size Battery Banks for Off-Grid Applications

This webinar will focus on sizing batteries for off-grid applications. The basics of battery capacity will be discussed including how it is defined, what affects it and what other de-rating factors need to be considered when determining battery capacity. Calculation of dc and ac loads will be addressed and the role inverter power factor and inverter efficiency play in the calculation of battery amp-hour capacity.

Maintaining Deep-Cycle Batteries in the Field

The webinar will review deep-cycle battery care and maintenance, emphasizing why proper maintenance is critical to ensuring optimum performance and maximum life of a deep-cycle battery.

July 10 at 8 a.m. PDT

Importance of Deep-Cycle Battery Test Data

This discussion will address why independent test data should be the only yardstick used when comparing competitive batteries and their manufacturers.

September 18 at 8am PDT

An Overview of Trojan’s Premium Line

Designed with a 10-year battery life, Trojan’s Premium line will be reviewed including a discussion of the specific engineering and unique features of this battery line which make them ideal for a variety of renewable energy applications.

November 6 at 8 a.m. PST

Deep-Cycle Battery Manufacturing and Why the Manufacturing Process Is So Important for Long-Life and Reliability

The process of manufacturing deep-cycle batteries is important to achieving long life and reliability.  This webinar will discuss why both battery design and the manufacturing process separate a quality deep-cycle battery from those that simply do not live up to their published specifications.
