Ultraflex cables just for electric vehicles

By Paul Dvorak | July 15, 2011

The lightweight jacket on the CarolGrene UltraFlex cable makes for easy handling and features good flexibility. In fact, it's the most flexible TPE jacket on the market.

General Cable will launch its new Carol Brand line of CarolGrene Ultra Flex Electric Vehicle (EV) Cables at Plug-in 2011 on July 18th-21st in Raleigh, NC (General Cable Booth #615). When terminated in accordance with industry standards, CarolGrene cables can supply charging power to all electric vehicles on the market today.  The company says the cable line is the most comprehensive UL 62 approved product offering with three standard jacket types as well as custom designs for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 NEC 625 charging station application

“High quality cord and cord sets, with a proven track record of performance, are a critical element to EV owner safety, customer experience, and to advance the EV market,” says General Cable’s Director Brian Roddy.

The company adds that EV All-Rubber Jacket has the most durable cord on the market and has been the industry standard for rubber cord for 40 years.  With superior chemical and abrasion resistance, the rubber construction will withstand daily abuse and temperature extremes in the harshest of environments, making the product ideal for commercial and industrial applications.

CarolGrene UltraFlex Cables also offers a polyvinylchloride jacket construction and can be ordered in standard configurations or custom designs. Cable selections include jacket type, color, and a name in the print legend for private labeling.

The lightweight cable jacket makes for easy handling and features superior flexibility–the most flexible TPE jacket on the market. What’s more, the EV cord can be molecularly bonded to caps and connectors for lasting strength, even in rough applications.

The company’s engineering expertise and manufacturing flexibility allows building a construction to suit any type of application, including options for power, signal, data, and fiber hybrid cables.  Additionally, all designs are compatible with SAE J1772 connector systems.
