SgurrEnergy provided contracting support, review of the project’s civil and electrical design, construction monitoring, and technical advice in support of substantial completion of the Latigo Wind Farm.
The 60-MW Latigo Wind Farm was commissioned in Utah this week with technical support from renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy. SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group business, provided owner’s engineer services and technical due diligence for project developer sPower.
The Latigo Wind Farm is situated along the foothills of the Abajo Mountains, northwest of Monticello. Since December, the turbines have undergone various commissioning tests and are now operating at full capacity. The clean electricity that Latigo generates will be provided to PacifiCorp under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
SgurrEnergy’s scope of work included contracting support, review of the project’s civil and electrical design, construction monitoring, and technical advice in support of substantial completion. The work scope also included a detailed technology review of the GE 2X wind turbine in its first commercial application.
Construction of the 27 GE 2.3-MW turbines began generating energy in January 2016.
“SgurrEnergy is delighted to have the opportunity to employ our technical expertise in support of this project,” said Principal Consultant at SgurrEnergy, Bill Follett. “Working alongside sPower to complete this project in a short timescale has been rewarding and this experience has allowed us to continue to support them in their continued expansion into the onshore wind sector.”
