Last October, Flash Technology launched the latest in red LED tower lighting with the Vanguard Red FTS 371 SMART. This product introduced an efficiency flash mode for lower power consumption, as well as LED monitoring technology to ensure compliance with FAA flashing marker requirements. Its size, field programmability and various monitoring options provide all the features needed in a SMART controller at an affordable price.
Now, Flash Technology is excited to announce the FTS 371, a new entry level controller to the Vanguard Red series. The FTS 371 is an even more affordable option for those who do not need the extra features of the FTS 371 SMART. For example, the FTS 371 provides only a single dry contact alarm relay for monitoring rather than the (3) relays available in the SMART system.

Both FTS 371 and FTS 371 SMART meet the following national and international guidelines:
- FAA AC 150/5345-43H
- AC 70/7460-1K and -1L marker requirements
- Transport Canada CAR 621.19
- ICAO Type B and Type C (6th Edition)
- DGAC Mexico
Marker 371
Debuting with the Vanguard Red series, DC Marker 371 features an access port for easier wiring installation. A new electronics design accurately monitors multiple markers in all weather conditions. Single and double L-810 options for both AC and DC applications are available.
With the introduction of the FTS 371 AC product line, Flash Technology will be discontinuing the FTC 2201 red light controller. Boards will still be available as replacement parts for the 2201 controller. Likewise, the FTC 2301 DC red light controller will be replaced with the DC versions of the FTS 371 as they become available in April 2017.
“Vanguard Red provides flexibility for avian and non-avian programming as well as a variety of monitoring options,” says Wade Collins, director of business development. “For red only telecom, utility and MET tower lighting, it’s simply your most economical option.”
