Vestas introduces BladeCare, a blade maintenance program

By Paul Dvorak | March 8, 2016

This posting comes from the first page or two of Vestas’ 12-page BladeCare e-book.

Vestas says that BladeCare Fleetwide is a cost-saving blade inspection program that will identify damage at the earliest stage possible. It will also optimise the performance and protection of your blades to upgrade your business case with an increased AEP and reduced costs. Industry-leading repairs are available along with complete replacement of blades when necessary. The program is intended to be a one-stop shop without contractual commitments. Reduced risk exposure coupled with advanced annual inspections to offer you the full-wrap blade coverage. Repairs Wear and Tear Coverage Upgrades Inspections BladeCare Blades are not only the largest components on your turbine – they are also the most expensive and vulnerable components. Being exposed to varying weather conditions and heavy loads, the blades are consistently put under pressure. Yet, they are vital to the performance of your turbines. This means that to get the most out of your investment, you need to take good care of your blades.  To simplify how our services can contribute to your O&M strategy, Vestas introduces BladeCare – a comprehensive range of services to help keep blades in optimal condition.

The program’s life-cycle approach to blade care includes inexpensive and quick blade inspections to identify and assess damage. In addition, we offer industry-leading repair solutions and upgrades to maintain and optimize your turbines’ performance throughout their lifetime. A service tailored to your strategy BladeCare consists of four elements, which are available both on contractual and transactional basis:

  • Inspections
  • Repairs
  • Wear and Tear Coverage
  • Upgrades

These elements represent our comprehensive approach to blade maintenance, where innovative and dedicated engineering provide the framework for the best blade service in the market. In the following pages you can read more about each of the elements and how they can be combined to reduce your lost production factor and increase your annual energy production.

Safety first
That is the principle in all Vestas’ operations, including BladeCare. Before we can take care of your blades together, we need to take care of our employees, your employees, and anyone else involved in our work. Our commitment to and focus on safety has led to reduced incident rates for nine consecutive years, and our ambition is to get to eliminate incidents all-together.
