Vestas secures wind order for 101 MW in the U.S.

By Michelle Froese | December 8, 2016

According to Vestas, the similar electrical properties, sound emissions, and nacelle design means it is easy to mix turbines from their 3-MW platform to maximize production.

Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order for 101 MW of wind power in the United States. The order includes the company’s V126-3.45 MW and V117-3.45 MW turbines with the power-optimized mode to 3.6 MW.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a five-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service agreement. This agreement includes Vestas’ full-scope service package maximizing uptime and energy production. Turbine delivery is expected in 2017.

Customer and project names have not been disclosed at the customer’s request. The order demonstrates the growing interest in North America for Vestas’ 3-MW platform.
