Video borescope sports 5-m tube, 4-way articulation

By Paul Dvorak | July 27, 2012

The VJ-Advance video borescope sports a joystick-controlled, 360°-camera articulation, and medical-grade 640 x 480 image resolution.

The manufacture of the VJ-Advance, a compact and highly portable video borescope, is a new member of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). The company says AWEA’s Windpower 2012 was a good venue for introducing the VJ-Advance to the wind energy industry. “Our borescope received a great response from the attendees,” said Matt Weitzel, Sales and Marketing Director at RF.

“We sold three scopes there and have five additional companies taking demo units for evaluation.  For us, a demo is as good as a sale, so I’m really happy with the results from this program,” says Weitzel.

Available with insertion tubes ranging from 1.5  to 5.0-m long and 3.9 or 6.9-mm diameter, the video borescope features joystick-controlled four-way articulation and on-board image, video, and audio capture. The pistol-grip design facilitates easy one-handed operation. Controls and user interface are said to be intuitive and easy to use. For wind turbine inspections, the VJ-Advance offers a good combination of portability, ease of use, function, and quality. The medical-grade camera delivers great image detail, and the joystick-controlled articulation makes it easy to zero in on the inspection target. What’s more, the compact design and total weight of just 23 oz. makes it easy to carry and can squeeze into small inspection areas.

The company offers a no-cost, no-obligation, on-site demo program. It lets technicians interested in evaluating the VJ-Advance demo a unit at their facility for three days. The unit is so compact it ships by UPS, and it is so easy to use, no salesperson need be onsite to conduct training. To arrange a demo unit, go to the demo program page at the RF System Lab website, or call 989-731-5083.
