STRIKEnet lightning verification reports to be delivered by Weather Fusion

By Michelle DiFrangia | March 26, 2014

STRIKENet Lighting ReportsStarting April 1, 2014, Weather Fusion LLC. will be the exclusive distributor of Vaisala STRIKEnet lightning verification reports to the U.S. insurance industry. Claims managers, claims adjusters, and investigative forensic engineers will be able to purchase STRIKEnet lightning reports from the same source they have come to rely on for hail and other severe weather perils.

“The transition from Vaisala to Weather Fusion as the point of sale for STRIKEnet is driven by our mutual customers’ desire to integrate multiple weather solutions directly into their claims and underwriting workflows,” says Richard Pyle, director of New Weather Markets at Vaisala. “Vaisala launched STRIKEnet lightning verification reports in 1992, providing the first address-specific weather claim verification for use in the insurance claim process. “As we head into the 2014 severe weather season, we know customers will benefit from this one-stop access to weather verification reports and services,” he adds.

“Based on actual claims data, 30% of all lightning claims have no strokes detected on the date of loss, so accurate verification is essential when validating lightning claims,” says Donald Giuliano, CEO of Weather Fusion. “Weather Fusion is now offering Vaisala STRIKEnet reports on a claim-by-claim transactional basis or integrated into first notice of loss (FNOL) to determine if lightning was or was not present on the date of loss.”

“As the insurance industry moves toward improved customer service and streamlined claims processing, carriers are seeking vendors who can provide and integrate the highest quality data into their claims workflow processes,” he continues. “By combining Vaisala’s STRIKEnet reports with our other weather verification reports, Weather Fusion
