Website features power-transmission equipment for wind turbines

By Paul Dvorak | October 27, 2011

Altra Wind Technology has launched a website, www.AltraWind.com, to provide engineers and others in the wind industry with a resource for application-specific power transmission and motion-control equipment.

The new online resource is organized into six categories including blade-pitch brakes, yaw brakes, shaft-locking devices, rotor brakes, high-speed shaft couplings, and access hatch actuators. Shopper will find products, photos, features, and benefits of each Altra brand that can be applied to improve operational efficiency, productivity, safety, and reliability.

Internet links connect users to Altra brands highlighted on the website, including Twiflex Ltd, Ameridrives Couplings, Warner Electric, Matrix International, and Warner Linear. Another link connects to a Literature Portal with information grouped by brand, product family, and market served.

With manufacturing facilities in the US, Europe and China, the companies in the Altra Wind Technology family can provide support to wind-turbine OEMs worldwide. Many Altra components and plants are GL (Germanischer Lloyd) and DNV (Det Norske Veritas) certified.
