Welders get a new website

By Windpower Engineering | February 22, 2011

Visitors to the new Lincoln Electric website will see how easy it is to find information they need to make decisions about their welding and cutting requirements and purchases. The site features intuitive navigation and increased product detail. Users can also create a personal product wish list.

A new login function at Lincoln Electric’s new website lets users register for a customized user experience, including a personalized product wish list that they can save for future reference.

The most notable change to the site centers on navigation. It now features clearly marked “categories of interest,” ranging from equipment to sports sponsorships, at the top of the homepage. Users click on these topics to see a detailed menu of options for each.

Users will find a visually enhanced page that displays the complete company offering of products in that category. A “Narrow Your Results” filtering menu on the side of the page lets users view only products that meet certain specifications, such as input power, process capability, or maximum output. Detailed product pages provide a comprehensive look at product information, ranging from a brief description of each item to more detailed specifications, what’s included and optional accessories. It’s all delivered in an easy-to-read layout.

Each welding electrode or wire page features more product detail. Tabs link to such information as mechanical properties, chemical composition, test result data, and typical operating procedures.

A new login function lets users register with the site for a customized user experience, including a personalized product wish list that they can save for future reference. They can print the list to take shopping at a local welding supply store, use the list to compile products for a specific job, or simply keep track of the availability of certain products.

To celebrate the new site, Lincoln Electric will reward new registered users with the chance to win prizes. The first 150 registered users to create a login name and password will win a Lincoln t-shirt, and those who create a wish list will have the chance to win something even better in the “Win Your Wish List” giveaway.

Users who create a wish list on or before February 21 will be entered into the sweepstakes. Three lucky winners will receive up to $1,500 in products from their wish lists.
