Two Lincoln Electric experts will share their insights for aluminum welding as part of a distinguished panel of speakers presenting during the upcoming American Welding Society (AWS) 15th Annual Aluminum Welding Conference, Sept. 18 and19, in Seattle. Frank Armao, Director of Aluminum Technology, Lincoln Electric, and Greg Doria, Director of Global Sales – Indalco Alloys, a division of The Lincoln Electric Company of Canada LP, will present three sessions during the first day of the conference, held at the Hilton Seattle. Armao will discuss “The Aluminum Designation System,” explaining aluminum alloys and the temper designation system, as well as the physical and mechanical properties of aluminum alloys, at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 18.

He also will present “Gas Metal Arc Welding of Aluminum Alloys” at 2:15 p.m. that day. In this presentation, Armao will discuss metal transfer modes, shielding gases, wire-feed systems, and power source selection – constant voltage, constant current, pulse, or variable polarity.

On the same day at 1:30 p.m., Doria will present “Metal Preparation for Aluminum Welding.” He will stress the importance of proper weld preparations – one of the key steps in producing good quality welded joints – to avoid weld discontinuities in aluminum welding.

In addition to listening to these Lincoln Electric speakers, conference participants also will have the opportunity to visit the Lincoln Electric booth in the
exhibition area of the conference for networking and a chance to see and discuss the latest products and services available for the aluminum welding industry. For more information on the conference, or to register, visit the
