Wind farm owner Installs 441 climb assists

By Paul Dvorak | October 24, 2011

The 1000P’s portable control box weighs only 8.5 lbs (4 kgs) and sets up easily with a click and plug. Then climb.

A manufacturer of climb-assist equipment has completed installation of 441 of its recent IBEX 1000P systems at six separate project sites across the U.S. and Canada for the nation’s largest independent wind-plant owner.  The 1000P’s portable control box weighs only 8.5 lbs (4 kg) and sets up easily with a click and plug. Then climb. The durable design is life-cycle tested and approved by wind-turbine technicians. The EasyClimb Controller lets each user customize assistance from 50 to 125 lbs (25 to 55 kg), and enjoy constant load support regardless of climbing speed in both up and down directions. The wind farm owner has developed more than 20 wind farms with an aggregate capacity of over 2,200 MW.

The recently released IBEX 1000P climb assist system is said to set new standards for portability and durability and offers the performance owners have come to expect. The system can be installed in any wind turbine tower and significantly improves employee health and safety as well as productivity.
