Leading-edge erosion is a major cause of wind turbine blade wear. As the turbine rotor spins in the air, it hit dust, dirt, insects, hail, and more. That does not sound like much until you consider the blade tip could be spinning over 100 mph. Once the blade edge wears, water can invade, freeze, and eventually ruin the structure’s aerodynamics.
