Winnovation Challenge 2011

By Kathie Zipp | October 20, 2010

In February 2011, Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer, is challenging Master’s degree students within engineering to come up with ideas that could impact the world’s wind energy market. If your concept is selected, the company will fly you out to Denmark at their expense, where you’ll present your idea to Vestas executives. You’ll compete with others from Europe, Asia, and the U.S. for a chance to win airline tickets for a trip around the world.

Vestas will host the competition on Feb. 10-11, 2011 at their technology R&D facility in Aarhus, Denmark. As a participant you’ll be facing some of the key business challenges that are of vital importance to Vestas and the use of wind energy in the future within these areas:

Power plant/Electrical engineering

Supply chain management

Quality in production

In order to be eligible for the finals in Denmark, you must pre-register as well as submit a solution to one of the preliminary cases. Visit the company’s site to learn more about the challenges.

The deadline for submission of preliminary cases is Friday, Nove. 26, 2010. Pre-registration and submission of case solutions opens on Oct. 1. Those with questions in relation to the competition can contact winnovation@universum.se.
