Wood Group’s clean energy business, previously known as SgurrEnergy, recently supported Trianel Windpark Borkum II located in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea to financial close.

Offshore Wind

The 200-MW Windpark Borkum II offshore wind farm will consist of 32 Senvion 6.2M152 wind turbines with a power upgrade of 6.33 MW.

The 200-MW offshore wind farm will consist of 32 Senvion 6.2 M152 wind-turbine generators with a power upgrade of around 6.33 MW. It will have the capacity to power up to 239,000 homes when complete.

The wind farm is the second phase of the Trianel Windpark Borkum offshore wind farm, which has been in operation since 2015. A part of the infrastructure for Trianel Windpark Borkum II is already in place and the wind farm will share the offshore substation with the first phase.

The leading renewable and grid integration experts were appointed by Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG to act as lender’s technical advisor.

As part of their scope of work, Wood Group’s clean energy team undertook a full scope technical due diligence of the Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II project, which included review of the main site studies, the design of the wind park, the energy yield assessment as well as the key contracts for the construction of the offshore wind farm.

“Wood Group’s clean energy team is delighted to be working with Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG on the Trianel Windpark Borkum project,” Paris Hernández, Senior Renewable Energy Consultant at Wood Group – clean energy, said. “We’re looking forward to supporting the project through the construction phase, on its road to operation.”

Trianel Windpark Borkum wind farm will be constructed throughout 2018 and is estimated to commence operation by the end of 2019. Shareholders of Trianel Windpark Borkum II are EWE AG (37.5 %), ewz Offshore Borkum GmbH (24.51 %) and 17 German municipal utilities together with Trianel GmbH (37.99 %).
