The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) is holding a hearing to take public comments on the first freshwater offshore wind project in North America, and you’re invited. The hearing will take place on November 8 in Cleveland (details below).
Come show your support for the Icebreaker Offshore Wind Farm, which will create local jobs in Ohio and boost the economy.
Icebreaker Wind Ohio’s took a big step forward bringing its offshore wind turbine demonstration project to reality with the issuance of a letter by the OPSB in July 2017. It indicated that the Icebreaker Windpower’s application for a permit to construct the first freshwater offshore wind project in the U.S. is in compliance and ready to be processed.
Icebreaker Wind’s six-turbine 20.7-MW project will be located 8 to 10 miles off the shore of Cleveland, Ohio. The project will create nearly 500 jobs in the area.
OPSB is seeking strong support at the hearing. There will be a sign-up sheet at the City Council Chambers that will set the speaking order. “Please come show your support for this clean energy project that will create good jobs and boost the economy by making a short statement describing why you personally support offshore wind in Lake Erie,” it stated in the release.
