ACCIONA Windpower North America has appointed Leif Andersen as Director of Wind Turbine Sales. Leif will join the existing sales team at ACCIONA as they continue to build on the success of the Company’s AW3000 3MW turbine in the U.S. and Canada.
Leif brings over 25 years of wind industry experience to ACCIONA Windpower, having led U.S. sales for Suzlon, Vestas, NEG Micon and others. Leif also served for ten years as a board member of the American Wind Energy Association. He joins ACCIONA Windpower at a time when the performance and growing order book of the AW3000 is attracting attention from customers worldwide.
Earlier this year, ACCIONA finalized agreements that brought the total footprint for the AW3000 turbine to 1 GW. ACCIONA Windpower has been successful with both the 116 meter rotor option for the AW3000 that was introduced in 2011 and the recently launched 125 meter rotor option for low-wind sites. Leif Andersen’s extensive experience knowledge of the industry will help ACCIONA Windpower continue its momentum in North America.
