Aercoustics Engineering’s Payam Ashtiani has been appointed to IEC Standards Technical Committee 88, which reviews and sets all the worldwide electrical standards for wind turbines. Aercoustics is one of Canada’s leading engineering firms with specialized capabilities in all aspects of acoustics, noise, and vibration control.
Since 2013, Aercoustics has been the only Canadian firm accredited to test for the IEC 61400-11 international standard for wind turbines. Now Ashtiani, a principal with the company, will be the only Canadian representative on the working group MT 11 dedicated to wind turbine acoustic noise measurement techniques.
“It is an honor to be invited to join the technical committee setting standards for the industry when most of the representatives are drawn from European countries with more mature wind industries,” says Ashtiani. “Becoming part of the working group recognizes our growing work and expertise in the wind turbine noise measurement area and it speaks to the maturing Canadian renewable industry and the exporting of home grown expertise.”
Ashtiani’s appointment has been approved by the Standards Council of Canada and the National Committee Liaison for the International Standards Committees.
