Composite manufactures from across the globe have gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta for the third annual JEC Americas Exhibition and Conference. The event brings together leaders from the full spectrum of the global composites value chain, upstream and downstream.
This year, the JEC Group leveraged its relationship with Messe Frankfurt and combined its show with Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas, letting visitors attend three shows at once.
JEC Group is the world’s largest organization exclusively dedicated to the composites industry and represents a network of 250,000 professionals. Windpower contributes to 7% of the total composites industry in North America.
Companies with windpower applications exhibiting at the show include Arkema (Booth #1358), Henkel (Booth #1332), and Hollingsworth & Vose (#4725).
JEC Group also announced winners of its 2014 JEC Americas Innovation Awards program, which highlights pivotal advances in composites design, manufacturing, and application in 10 categories. In windpower, the winner was Owens Corning with partner WINDnovation.
Owens Corning proposed glass fabric solutions for WINDnovation’s blade design, which optimized the use of Owens Corning’s Ultrablade unidirectional and multiaxial glass reinforcement fabric range. The stiffness and strength of the new reinforcement were improved by more than 15%.
The JEC Americas 2014 show runs from May 13 to 15. JEC Americas 2015 is planned for Houston from June 2 to 4 and again will be co-located with Techtextil North America. For more information, click here.
