K2 Management to deliver construction services for DeBu offshore wind farm

By Michelle Froese | October 2, 2017

K2 Management has been awarded a lump sum service agreement by Northland Power. The agreement includes full scope construction management on the €1.2bn (over $1.4bn USD) Deutsche Bucht (DeBu) offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The scope of this assignment will see K2 Management delivering full construction management services, from the pre-construction phase through to the commercial operation date, expected by the end of 2019.

K2 Management has been working on the 252-MW project since 2013, providing engineering and development services, supporting it through financial close and Northland Power’s acquisition of the project from Highland Group in August 2017.

The scope of this assignment will see K2 Management delivering full construction management services, from the pre-construction phase through to the Commercial Operation Date, expected by the end of 2019.

K2 Management will be responsible for project management services for the technical management of project agreements; HSE and quality management; construction monitoring; and management of integration, time and cost, contracts, and risk; in addition to providing procurement and technical advice for the duration of the contract.

“DeBu is a large offshore project; having a full-scope construction management provider will help to ensure its success,” said Morten Melin, Executive Vice President, Construction at Northland Power. “Northland Power has selected K2 Management for this role as a result of their extensive track-record, and their significant contribution to bringing the project to financial close.”

Chief Sales Officer and Co-founder of K2 Management Lars Hammershøj added: “We believe lump sum pricing is a natural next step to reduce the cost of offshore wind energy and we are delighted to continue working with Northland, an emerging leader in the offshore wind sector.”
