Keyless shaft locking bushing transmits up to 6,400 ft-lb

The stainless steel ETP Express-R shaft-locking bushings handle torque from 34 to 6,400 ft. lbs. The developer says the bushings work well locking into position gears, pulleys, sprockets, and other components in a machine’s power transmission system.

The company says a single adjusting screw design makes the bushings superior to conventional mechanical-locking bushings that need numerous adjusting screws. Tightening numerous screws creates axial movement of the bushing and is less precise.

The company says the bushings work well in systems requiring frequent washdowns because they are easily cleaned and won’t corrode. They have sealed, clean lines that resist debris collection and clean easily without any special maintenance.

ETP Express-R bushings have one radial actuation screw. They position in seconds and can be readjusted many times without axial movement of the bushing or component along the keyless shaft. An Allen wrench is all that is required to mount and lock the bushings into place.

The single radial tightening screw provides a connection between shaft and hub unlike conventional shaft-locking bushings. The ETP Express-R incorporates a double-walled sleeve filled with a pressure medium. When the actuation screw is tightened, the hydraulic pressure medium in the sleeve expands the double walled sleeve, forming a tight, continuous connection between the shaft and mounted component. The bushing aligns without axial movement as it is tightened.

The bushings come in shaft sizes of 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, and 80-mm diameter and 5/8, ¾, 7/8, 1.0 1-1/8, 1¼ , 1-3/8, 1½, 1¾, 1-15/16, and 2.0-in. diameter shaft sizes.
