Latest wind cables to be showcased at CanWEA

By Nic Sharpley | October 8, 2012

HELUKABEL will be showcasing their latest advancements in wind cable technology at the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA)’s 28th Annual Conference and Exhibition, being held October 14-17, 2012 in Toronto.

HELUKABEL-CANWEA Show

CanWEA is a premier wind energy event that will bring together over 2,500 experts and 250 exhibiting companies from all over the world to discuss wind power opportunities and the latest developments in the wind energy industry.

Located at booth #738, HELUKABEL USA will be promoting the capabilities of the HELUWINDWK-Series, a line of high-performance wind cables and accessories that equip the entire turbine from rotor tip to tower base and offer, according to the company:

  • Superior resistance to torsional stress
  • Wide operating temperature range
  • Low surface adhesion/abrasion
  • Approval for use on- and offshore

The latest addition to the WK-Series is the POWERLINE ALU, a diesel locomotive-like power cable made of finely-stranded aluminum. This highly-flexible, down tower cable offers customers the performance capabilities of a standard copper cable at a fraction of the cost due to its lighter weight and quicker installation times.

Also on display will be the enhanced, five approval JZ-603 and JZ-603-CY Control Cables and the wind turbine tray cable (WTTC)-rated TRAYCONTROL-Series control cables, which are best suited for transmitting data and control power to the operating components within the turbine’s nacelle and tower base.

Regardless of the application (hot/cold climate), conductor material requirements (copper or aluminum), or the location (multiple global approvals), HELUKABEL’s wind cables offer turbine manufacturers the ability to operate effectively in the global wind market.
