After more than 100 gearbox changes across the U.S. and Canada, Liftra‘s Self-Hoisting Crane technology has just replaced its first gearbox in Europe. The project was on a Vestas 2-MW turbine (V90) in Germany.
The soft soil on-site ruled out any heavy crane equipment near the turbine. According to Liftra, a company that specializes in providing tailor-made solutions for special lifting and transportation tasks in the wind industry, the crane container had to be parked 60 meters away from the tower and the Self-Hoisting Crane was installed from there.
