By Michelle Froese | November 17, 2017

Moventas, a provider in wind gearbox technology and service solutions, is in the process of expanding their U.S. Big Spring operations. The expansion is part of a strategic investment aimed at further strengthening their service offering to the North American market.

Located in Howard County, Texas, Moventas’ new facility will consist of a 7,500 sq ft workshop and a further 35,000 sq ft area, combining warehouse space and a state-of-the-art test bench installation.

The facility will be capable of repairing and load testing main gearboxes up to a size of 3 MW. .

“The consolidation of U.S. workshop repair activities is at the core of Moventas’ revised strategy for North America. Focus of this strategy is to provide our customers with a comprehensive and cutting-edge offering to help them win in a highly competitive market,” said Martin Zingg, SVP Global Service

The consolidated structure allows Moventas to serve the North American marketplace more efficiently with workshop repairs and gives Moventas a strong presence in the state with the single biggest installed base in the U.S. This will provide Moventas a platform for growth over the coming years for workshop repairs and also field services.
