Wind asset management services firm UpWind Solutions Inc. has a new chief operating officer. Peter Wells will be responsible for business operations at the Oregon-based company, tasked with the development and growth of new business units such as the recently acquired Blade Services division, Major Maintenance Services, and Spare Parts.
Wells joined UpWind in December of 2010 after a decade of service at GE, where he served in a number of roles within GE Energy including Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, General Manager of Marketing, and Vice President of parts services for GE–Hitachi Nuclear Energy. During his tenure as the leader of the parts services business, Wells delivered substantial organic growth while significantly improving customer performance metrics. Prior to joining GE in the United States, Wells had over 10 years of commercial operations and project management experience working for European companies in the UK, Belgium and Asia who provided design and construction management services on large infrastructure projects around the world.
Wells graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1991 with a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying and was elected a professional Associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 1993. He received Six Sigma Black Belt certification in 2003 and attended numerous leadership development courses from 2002 to 2010 at GE, including several residential courses and GE’s John F. Welch Leadership Development Center at Crotonville NY.
