Strategic partnership provides renewable energy consulting services in three Latin American countries

By Nic Sharpley | August 2, 2012

AWS Truepower, LLC and AIRES Renewables recently announced a strategic partnership to provide renewable energy consulting services to Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. Drawing from years of combined expertise and experience, developers, investors, government agencies, and utilities will benefit from a wide‐ranging set of solutions. Part of the offering includes proven and reliable renewable resource modeling and measurement, energy assessments, engineering studies, forecasting services, grid integration studies and operations services to maximize system performance and better plan energy delivery.

“We are pleased to be working with AIRES to provide clients with a single source for wind and solar data, resource modeling, energy assessments, bankable reports, engineering and proven methods to identify project risks. We expect that there will be many opportunities for us to offer strong local support and advanced solutions to a rapidly growing renewables market in Latin America,” said Joan Aymamí, Vice President of AWS Truepower.

The strategic partnership builds on the existing relationship the two firms began earlier this year. In February 2012 AWS Truepower and AIRES Renewables announced a joint venture for a $1 million project to identify and quantify the wind and solar resources in the San Juan province of Argentina. The work, funded through Argentina’s San Juan province power utility, EPSE, aims to provide the government with validated, high‐resolution wind and solar resource maps, long‐term datasets and build‐out scenarios for renewable energy projects throughout the San Juan territory. The project is expected to last until the end of 2013.

“Partnering with AWS Truepower allows us to meet the needs of the growing renewables market,” said Sebastian Kind, CEO of AIRES Renewables. “With over 45 years of combined expertise our firms provide a full range of solutions to support renewable energy project lifecycle. We are excited to expand our offering in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.”

Work has begun with Argentinean‐based, CAMMESA and ENARSA. AWS Truepower with the support of AIRES will provide wind energy forecasts to support two operational wind plants in the region. This forecasting service will help reduce the risk and uncertainty associated with integrating renewable energy into the electric grid.
