Tidal Transit to adopt CrewSmart’s CTV crew management system

By Michelle Froese | June 10, 2019

An advanced approach to fleet and crew management is critical to supporting this, and investing in innovative digital platforms is becoming essential for operators expanding their own businesses, while meeting the evolving requirements of the industry, says Tidal Transit.

An advanced approach to fleet and crew management is critical to supporting this, and investing in innovative digital platforms is becoming essential for operators expanding their own businesses, while meeting the evolving requirements of the industry, says Tidal Transit.

Tidal Transit Ltd, a crew-transfer vessel (CTV) operator for the offshore wind energy industry, has adopted CrewSmart’s advanced end-to-end management platform as it seeks to drive significant expansion in its roster of both CTVs and crew.

As the offshore wind industry matures, vessel operators must keep on top of the evolving expectations of project owners around vessel and crew compliance, as well as the key metrics of vessel availability and “time on turbine.”

CrewSmart’s cloud-based system provides immediate access to essential information across Tidal Transit’s CTV fleet and crew, including personnel records, certifications for vessels and crew, and invoicing. The single, centralised platform gives the management team complete visibility and control to support critical decision making.

It will play an important role in ensuring the availability of their specialist CTVs and crew, both now and as the business looks to double its fleet size to meet the demands of a swelling international offshore wind market.

Christian Adams, Director of CrewSmart, said: “CrewSmart alleviates the administrative burden on the operations team, presenting critical information clearly and instantly, making it easy for the business to act on issues and plan for contracts.

“In order to further support vessel operators in meeting the evolving requirements of the industry whilst maintaining their high operational standards, we have also developed a function for senior management to see a Compliance Score for the business. CrewSmart calculates this percentage score through the aggregation of vessel and crew certifications and gives the senior team immediate and full visibility of compliance issues before they affect CTV and crew availability.”

Leo Hambro, Commercial Director of Tidal Transit Ltd, said: “As we take the first steps towards meeting our target of doubling our fleet within the next 4-5 years, investment in a system that will manage that transition smoothly has been – and will continue to be – an essential part of the expansion process.

“Going forwards, the CrewSmart platform will be a core part of our commercial strategy. We now have complete visibility and control over our mission-critical information, and this has generated one of the global efficiency gains that allow us to grow as a company.”
