Advantages of extruded flat cables

By Windpower Engineering | February 3, 2011

A few advantages to extruded flat cables are that they can be extruded in continuous lengths in an automated, climate controlled process. Manufacture is easily set up for a wide variety of cables. Silicone jackets have complete integrity, totally surrounding cable elements in a durable one-piece construction. The cable shape is customizable and infinitely repeatable. Silicone is ‘self-healing’ from small punctures, and cable damage can easily be repaired in the field. In addition, temperatures for flat cables exceed even the specialized PTFE jacketed cables. They span -85 to 500°F.
