
The Gamesa G97-2.0 MW features an aerodynamic blade tip and the company’s Noise Reduction System to ensure maximum output with minimum noise.
Construction is under way, at this writing, on the 28-MW Garden Wind Farm featuring Gamesa Technology Corp.’s G97 2.0 MW Class IIIA model, which was introduced to the U.S. market in 2011. Located on the Garden Peninsula, this project is Gamesa’s first in Michigan.
Heritage Sustainable Energy will develop and own the project, which features 14 turbines on 90-meter towers in Garden Township, Delta County. Project development began in March 2011, and the turbine contract was signed at the end of the year. The wind farm is scheduled for completion and production by September 2012. Detroit Edison and Consumers Energy will purchase the power.
Gamesa’s G97-2.0 MW Class IIIA model is for low-wind sites, a segment from which the company expects over half of all future on-shore demand. This turbine model increases energy output almost 14% over the previous G90.

The wind farm will generate continuing financial benefits to leaseholders and tax revenue for the community. The project is expected to produce dozens of construction jobs and long-term local employment for the operation and maintenance of the wind farm.
