Firms merge to better assess sites around the globe

By Paul Dvorak | April 1, 2011

The wind survey of India shows wind speeds for 80m as calculated by AWS Truepower.

A renewable-energy consultancy announced a merger with its joint-venture partner. The company says the merge will let them increase their global network of renewable-energy-consulting professionals and improve market opportunities for its consulting and information services. The companies, AWS Truepower LLC and partner Meteosim Truewind, say they can provide a worldwide professional staff of meteorologists, engineers, spatial analysts, and environmental specialists. These will let energy companies develop successful projects and provide financial organizations with objective assessments of investment opportunities, all of which require accurate, comprehensive, and granular assessment data. The firms say they also support asset managers, utilities and transmission operators with diagnostic evaluations of project performance and with short-term (minutes to days ahead) forecasts of plant output.

“The two companies have been working together for nearly five years to bring AWS Truepower’s portfolio of science and technology-driven solutions to the European, Latin American, and Asian renewable-energy markets,” says AWS Truepower CEO Bruce Bailey. “We continue to see rising demand from customers looking to develop wind and solar projects around the globe. An expanded staff in Spain and India are positioned to serve the greater international marketplace.”
