Lincoln Electric adds welding brushes to welding gear

By Paul Dvorak | February 24, 2013

6 Lincoln welding brushes

To avoid cross-contamination that could ruin welding work, it’s important to have different brushes for different materials.

Lincoln Electric now offers a line of high-quality Welding Brushes in the new Radius Welding Tools product group, a part of the company’s comprehensive line of Welding Gear. The expanding Welding Gear line offers welding operators, schools, and employers a single source for apparel and tools.

Featured in the 2013 Welding Gear Catalog, the brushes allow the proper cleaning of a base material before welding and between each pass. The line, organized by base material, includes the following models:

  • Stainless steel – A small, toothbrush-style, 3 x 7 row wire brush for light cleaning in confined or hard-to-reach areas; a 2 x 9 row brush with a slightly curved handle for general light cleaning; and a 3 x 19 row general-purpose brush for long life and efficient surface cleaning. All three brushes feature steel-wire bristles.
  • Aluminum – A compact, toothbrush-style, 3 x 7-row brush for light cleaning in confined or hard-to-reach areas, and a 2 x 9-row brush with a slightly curved handle for general light cleaning. Both brushes feature brass-wire bristles designed to gently remove the oxide layer that can form on aluminum.
  • Carbon steel – A 3 x 19-row brush for efficient general cleaning, and a 4 x 16 row brush with a curved handle, to make fast work of rust, mill scale, and paint. Both feature tempered-steel bristles.

“To avoid cross-contamination that could ruin your work, it’s important to have different brushes for different materials,” says Jamy Bulan, Product Manager, Retail and Accessory Products at Lincoln Electric. “Welds have a better appearance and fewer defects with proper cleaning of the base material.”

These high-quality Radius brushes are available in a three-pack. This combination pack features three toothbrush-style brushes: one with brass bristles for aluminum, one with stainless bristles for stainless steel, and a nylon-bristle brush for general cleaning on carbon steel. This easy-to-stow set is ideal for small projects.
