A little on the future for AWS Truepower under UL guidance

By Paul Dvorak | February 3, 2017

As announced in 2016, AWS Truepower was acquired by UL LLC (also known as Underwriters Laboratory), a worldwide safety and certification company headquartered near Chicago, Illinois with employees in over 40 countries.

Wind Navigator, software developed by AWS Truepower, assists in the development of wind farms.

Who is UL? UL is a premier global independent safety science company that has championed progress since 1894, innovating safety solutions from the public adoption of electricity to new breakthroughs in sustainability, renewable energy, and nanotechnology.  The UL Mark appears on approximately 22 billion products.

Why is UL a good fit? We wanted to find a strategic partner that would enable our company to become an even stronger and more diversified force in the global renewable energy services market, in line with our vision to be “the world’s leading clean energy consultant”. We found that partner in UL. UL also acquired DEWI, a Germany-based wind testing and services firm that is now our sister company. UL also has a solar product testing and certification arm and an e-Mobility business that supports the testing and certification of all-electric and hybrid vehicles.

What’s going to change? UL and AWS Truepower look forward to offering our clients a complete portfolio with more resources and support. For the time being, AWS Truepower will continue operating under its well-known brand as a UL company. Staying true to our roots, we remain accessible and responsive to the needs of our clients.

AWS Truepower and DEWI will be working closely together, represented under both brands as a global business with a portfolio of wind and solar services.

Both companies will continue their highly recognized quality services and technical expertise with a more diversified portfolio of renewable energy services and an increased global footprint.
