Starfire Zephyrus gear lube costs less, outperforms PAO-based options in DIN test

By Paul Dvorak | October 18, 2017

Starfire says its Zephyrus wind turbine gear oil (WTGO) reduces maintenance and operating costs in wind power generation. Zephyrus’ full synthetic formula is formulated without polyalphaolefin (PAO), so Zephyrus also protects users from the price spikes and supply interruptions associated with PAO-based alternatives.

All STARFIRE lubricants are said to meet or exceed manufacturer requirements.

Lubricants are a significant contributor to the overall operating cost of wind power generation, especially the attendant costs of maintenance, replacement, and quality monitoring. Zephyrus provides a unique formulation engineered to provide extended service life, specifically for the harsh environments and variances in speed and load in which the turbines operate.

Starfire Zephyrus exceeds all OEM and industry specs and carries the Siemens MD REV 15 FLENDER gear unit approval. Zephyrus has been proven to operate more effectively at lower temperatures than either mineral oil or PAO-based formulas. A DIN 51819-3 FE8 Bearing Test measured 3.5 mg at 80 kN, easily surpassing the industry standard of 30 mg.

All Starfire lubricants meet or exceed manufacturer requirements. For bulk orders or to locate a distributor in your area, call 888.258.8723 or visit starfire1.com/contact.php.
