The world’s most comfortable electric bike

By Paul Dvorak | December 4, 2015

Editor’s note: What’s not to like about an electric bike?  Also check out the Zero SR if you have time,  and if motorbikes raise your heartrate. Our rational for posting this is, well, it’s Friday, and vehicles like these will increase the demand for electric power – ideally wind-generated power – and what could be more sublime than riding wind powered transportation?

Biktrix says the heart of the Stunner is its powerful mid-drive motor and high quality battery. Mid-drive motors have several advantages over standard hub drive motors.

The Stunner electric bike boasts of a few features.

The Stunner electric bike boasts of a few features. Buy one for your dad.

  • The weight is evenly distributed along the center of the bike.
  • Mid-drives are more efficient than hub motors by using the
drive-train (gears) of the bike as the motor’s transmission.
  • Powerful. The 500W rated (900W peak, 746 Watts/hp) crank motor is greater than 80% efficient and gives plenty of power and torque to climb most inclines. The mid motor uses the gears of your bike as its transmission. This lets the motor and rider climb most any hill seamlessly.

Worry-free, maintenance-free, removable battery

  • The built-in state-of-the-art Battery Management System (BMS) allows you to leave the battery plugged in as long as you want. The BMS will intelligently cut off supply to individual cells.
  • No drag
  • Because the motor freewheels about the crank, there is no unnecessary drag.
If the battery dies, just pedal the Stunner like a regular bike.

The battery provides about 32 flat mi. per charge. The open platform lets owner opt for any 36V battery.

Here’s a little history: Every single Biktrix Juggernaut (a previous model) was delivered. 50% were well ahead of schedule, and the last bike was delivered on May 30, 2015. The company says it had bumps along the way, and spent a lot of long, hard days and nights working to solve them efficiently to keep things on schedule. They are proud of this, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Every Biktrix Juggernaut delivered was meticulously tested before shipping. We did run into a few quality problems, such as blown motor controllers, defective battery management systems, broken forks, scratched frames, and we caught and solved these prior to delivery. The Juggernauts we delivered were top-notch, high-quality machines, and all our backers are really happy with the quality. All of them agree that they got more than what they asked for or expected.

Since delivery, we have received 20 support requests from Juggernaut owners, and have replied to them all the same day – mostly within minutes! Most of this has been advice and recommendations – you know, friendly enthusiast banter. But, we did have a couple of real warranty issues (problems with 2 of the forks), which we sorted out at no extra cost (we shipped new ones for free to the backer’s local bike shop that did the installation) and promptly (both cases were solved within a couple of days).

The Juggernaut was delivered with many free upgrades – not just stickers and T-shirts, but real stuff that matters. “We upgraded the motor from the originally promised 500W version to a 750W beast. Then we upgraded the brakes, seat, handlebars, and rims. And to keep our customers clean and dry in the rain, we tossed in free fenders for every one of our backers,” says company CEO Roshan.

He considers the Juggernaut a success – not because it got funded, but because we delighted every single customer. “Our 2014 crowdfunding campaign for the Biktrix Juggernaut was successful (http://kck.st/14iX1JC). We over-delivered on every one of the 42 bikes ordered through the campaign.
