Touch-safe connector rated up to 450 A

By Paul Dvorak | November 29, 2010

The PowerMod HP (high power) series connector family features touch-safe female housings, cable strain relief, and integral positive latches. The RoHS Compliant series is rated to 450 A for appropriate applications at a 30ºC temperature rise.

A manufacturer of power interconnects introduces its PowerMod HP (high power) series connector family, featuring touch-safe female housings, cable strain relief, and integral positive latches. These safety features, combined with the ease of connector assembly, establish a new standard for cost effective high power connectors.

The series is RoHS Compliant and rated to 450 A for appropriate applications at a 30ºC temperature rise. The manufacturer’s patented contact technology gives the PowerMod HP a low electrical resistance, provides a minimum of 500 mating cycles, and is rated for circuit interruption (true hotplug). These connectors are IP 20 rated (touch safe) for user safety. An integral coding key provides further protection by letting users configure unique mating of up to six individual connectors.

The connectors accommodate American wire sizes from #6 to 4/0 AWG and metric wires from 13.3 to 95 mm². For additional reliability, a optional cable strain relief kit encompasses all applicable wire sizes. A latching device provides security and ergonomics as well as clear identification through its distinct blue buttons. The connector comes in one of ten different connector housing, including right angle, bus bar, panel mount and blindmate/float selections. These deliver broad design flexibility for current and future high power interconnections.
