Published on 7th June 2016, a Legal Power List is said to provide a rundown of the 100 most influential lawyers working on the financial side of the global wind sector.

This report also includes a profile of Håkon Sandbekk, senior legal counsel at Norwegian giant Statkraft, who played a key role in the revitalisation of Europe’s largest onshore wind project.
Investors, developers, and manufacturers may grab the headlines when it comes to the key deals that shape the wind market — but the sector would grind to a halt without lawyers.
Legal experts play a key role in making sure deals get over the line, and reducing the risks needed to encourage investment.
List authors say they got the idea for the Legal Power List last November when we noticed that the sector was absent from our fourth annual Top 100 Power People. This is not because we think lawyers have no influence, but rather because they tend to be involved behind the scenes. We found it impossible to accurately compare their contribution against deal-makers in other parts of the sector.
From that realisation, the Legal Power List was born.
Over the last six months the authors have canvassed opinions from across the industry and carried out our own in-depth research to round up the 100 most influential lawyers in the global wind sector, including both in-house legal experts and those working at law firms.
This report also includes a profile of Håkon Sandbekk, senior legal counsel at Norwegian giant Statkraft, who played a key role in the revitalisation of Europe’s largest onshore wind project; a Q&A interview with Ed Zaelke, partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and former American Wind Energy Association president; and an extended profile of our top-ranked lawyer.
