Alexit BladeRep provides four materials for repairing a better blade

By Paul Dvorak | August 19, 2014

Mankiewicz Gebr. & Co manufactures customized coatings suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. With the increasing emphasis on wind energy as a global power supply over the last two decades, Mankiewicz has concentrated their coatings expertise on the wind power industry and developed advanced coatings for wind turbine rotor blades.

MSI is the BladeRep Maintenance Service Indicator, a built-in wear and tear indicator with two color applications for easy visual control.

During the development of the turbine-blade product line our R&D concentrated on resistance to abrasion and erosion caused by global outdoor climates as well as elasticity, adhesion to laminates and other surface characteristics.

ALEXI Tproducts for wind turbine blades are approved by major wind turbine manufacturers. The products have been successfully tested under real life conditions and have completely fulfilled the requirements of this industry for more than 10 years.

Areas subjected to abrasion, such as leading edges and tips, are protected with high-tech coatings. The company says its durable ALEXIT BladeRep prolongs the life cycle of blades – avoiding the need for frequent costly blade replacements and extending the time between maintenance intervals – making it the cost effective choice.

Mankiewicz says BladeRep includes a comprehensive repair system consisting of four products – profile filler, pore filler, leading-edge protection and topcoat. These let applicators select the most efficient product for each repair application.

All BladeRep products are two-component, polyurethane based and are for the long-term protection of objects exposed to extreme environmental stress.

Advantages of ALEXIT BladeRep include:

Profile Filler 3

• Solvent-free, two component polyurethane

• Surfacing / profiling filler

• Non-porous filler used for fairing GRP-substrates

• Cures to an easily sandable surface

Pore Filler 6

• Solvent-free, two component polyurethane

• Fills pin holes

• Repairs minor areas of damage on GRP substrates

• Seals the surface

• Cures to an easily sandable surface

Leading edge protection 9

• Exclusively designed for protection of the leading edge

• Excellent abrasion and erosion resistance

• Elastic and flexible coating

• Designed as alternative to common LE-Tape

• Easy handling

• Maintenance service indicator (MSI) technology

Topcoat 12

• UV resistant

• Abrasion and chemical resistant

• Designed specifically for blade coating

• Meets or exceeds OEM standards

• Available in all standard OEM colors
