Electronics repair costs 60% of new

By Paul Dvorak | August 26, 2011

Ever been told that a critical turbine component is unsalvageable? It might not be. PSI Repair Services says it can repair or remanufacturers what others cannot. The company completes a root cause analysis and determines the repair action necessary. The company then might engineer a custom solution to repair the failure and prevent future ones. For example, the firm has experience with GE hub-mounted power converters and says it can save over 60% versus the cost of buying new. Product enhancements also let the converter run cooler and include upgraded capacitors, which extend its life. In the case of catastrophic failure, PSI can manufacturer new bus boards to increase the successful salvage rate to 100%. The firm says it can repair or replace every possible failed part within a GE IGBT. This includes the IGBT, AEBM cards, bus bars, insulators, cables, and more.

The company says it offers fast, affordable repairs, as well as upgraded longer life products for the electronic, hydraulic, and precision mechanical components however, drive wind turbines pitch and yaw systems and down tower electronics.
