Free software finds tools for tube assembly tasks

By Paul Dvorak | January 19, 2011

Users make few selections before the free online software recommends a tool.

A recent web-based app makes it fast and easy to choose equipment necessary for a variety of standard tube assembly operations. Determining the appropriate equipment for an operation is easier with ToolSpec because it applies information supplied by users to find a suitable match.

Rather than simply listing tasks the tools perform, the application describes them in detail, as well as the function of the selected equipment. Users would first select an operation to be performed, such as pre-set, flange, bend, flare, cut, or deburr. Next, select the equipment on which the operation will be performed. ToolSpec then narrows the search with additional specs relative to the chosen equipment. After providing pertinent information, the app displays a final selection, showing appropriate tooling. The application also provides users with relevant equipment manuals and operation details. Use the free-to-use ToolSpec app at: www.tfdToolSpec.com.
